I can't be finished; I still have paint left

Today I committed an act of creative vandalism.  I went over to my parents house and painted the bathroom "Matisse Gold".

My Mom has been playing around, pretending she wanted to paint the guest bathroom since last fall.  She even went so far as to buy several 'tester' jars of paint and splash them on parts of the wall, only to declare that she didn't like any of them.

Everybody knows that's not how you test paint.  You test paint by painting the entire room, then deciding it's too ugly for words, so you mix the paint you bought with some of the other colors of the 65 gallons of free paint you got from the 'free paint' box at Hirshfields, where they dump all the mis-mixed or unwanted paint, that you've been collecting for years and you really ought to stop because you're running out of storage space, but you can't because you think it might come in handy someday, and wow, look! Now you're painting your bathroom! but the new color you mixed winds up looking like toothpaste and not the pretty toothpaste, the really vile, bilous green toothpaste and you laugh so hard at how awful it looks that the cat comes to stare at you and then you finally just add white to the first color and it turns out perfect.

Or maybe that's just me.

Anyway, all the colors Mom tested were in the pumpkin to rust catagory.  They were all too dark.  I grabbed the can of gold, painted the room while she was out getting her haircut and if she hates it, it doesn't really matter, she never uses that bathroom and it's not like she'd bother painting over it.  She came home before I finished and said she loved it.  She may only have meant that she loved the fact that the darn room was finally painted, or she may really like the color.  Either way works for me.

I really don't recommend this sort of stealth decorating.  It's probably not a good idea to sneak into the homes of friends and family and paint rooms or put up curtains, but it is fun.

And Margy's guest bedroom really needs curtains...
