Once, okay but Twice?

When I was little one of the funnest, scariest adventures any of us kids could have was spending a night at Nana's.
Our Grandmother lived with two of our Uncles. They were both great guys and loved us kids and Nana was so nice she even gave us her dog because we loved it and Pepper had so much fun with us. Her next dog, Toby, was a pug we wouldn't have taken on a bet.
Anyway, sleeping at Nana's was fun, but it was scary, too. She lived half way around the lake, which was the dark side of the moon as far as we were concerned. She had two beds in her room, so we got to sleep in the same room with her which was cool, but the beds were like, six feet off the ground.
Now, I know they weren't really that high off the ground, but I was a really really little kid and I could not see the top of Nana's beds. The strangest part of this is that Nana was only 5'1", and she could barely see the top of her beds.
We used a ladder to get in.
I remember spending a Saturday night at Nana's and Sunday morning we all went to Church together. It was the same church I went to every Sunday but we sat in different chairs and it was all wierd and different. As we walked up the street to where Uncle Pat had parked the car, Nana stopped, said "Oh!", then wiggled her hips.
Something huge and silky floated to the ground.
Giggling helplessly, she picked up her undies in which the elastic had just snapped, shoved them in her purse and laughed all the way home.
Nana was cool.
I walked around the lake today and blew out my flip flop.
I really liked those ones; they were pink.
so I went home, popped on my blue flip flopped and took Zack to Southdale. Zack wanted to go shopping. He had saved up quite a bit and told me Penney's was having a sale. So we went on over and not four steps into the store, I blew out my flip flop.
Zack has always liked nice clothes. He was the only six year old I ever knew who owned a tux. Lately, he's had several opportunities to dress up. At his confirmation on Monday night, he looked great in black dress slacks, a blue button down shirt and tie. Tyler was Zack's sponsor and he looked great in black dress slacks, a blue dress shirt, a tie and a sports jacket. Jay showed up looking good in a blueshirtandtieandblackdressslacks. Right about then is when Zack decided it was time to go shopping.
So there we were, the two of us in the men's department at Penney's, matching ties to shirts. He chose a beautiful yellow striped shirt with white collar and cuffs, a blue tie that had just the right contrast and a pair of putty colored, soft silky dress pants. He even picked out a new belt, because he wanted a nice one and the last thing were the shoes. He bought himself a gorgeous pair of brown Stacy Adams shoes that were marked down from $80.00 to $54.00.
He picked all this out while never once pretending he didn't know the schlumpy woman in jeans and bare feet following him around the store.
I'll never be as cool as Nana, but Zack is.
