we shot the horse

The fifth technician that service plus sent out to "fix" our dishwasher was the same gal who first looked at it. She was appalled that it had not worked since that first service call. She installed the fourth and final new part and still could not get the thing to drain.
So we pulled the plug.
It made me a little bit sad to do it. We'd been through a lot together, that dishwasher and I. I remember when it was brand new, in the summer of '98, when we remodelled the kitchen and put in all new appliances. It was so white, and quiet. You couldn't hear it running even standing next to it, unlike it's predecessor, which had groaned and swished like a hurricane every time you ran it.
I never even got to use the new racks that were delivered back with the new pump, which was the first of the four new parts which were unable to reanimate this poor, dead appliance.
So now there's a hole in my cupboards. Jay and Zack hauled the corpse out to the back yard this afternoon. They are picking up the new one tomorrow. I hope I like it. Well, heck, if it cleans the dishes, it'll be better than that old peice of garbage has been in months. I hope it's quiet and I hope I can jam a lot of dishes in it.
