Sympathy pains

Last night in the backyard, I was talking with my neighbor, Chris, about my dishwasher woes. We got to talking about appliances and the hierarchy in the kitchen. A bum dishwasher is an inconvenience but it doesn't rise to the level of a problem. Not like a bad fridge, or stove would. I went so far as to say that the only appliance lower on the kitchen food chain was the microwave.
I think it heard me denigrate it, because when I tried to make lunch today, it committed suicide.
Instead of cooking, it smoked and gave off a dreadful plastic stench. You don't even try to fix a microwave. That's like trying to fix your dvd player. So we threw it in the back of the van with the old dishwasher and hauled it off to the recycling center. I bought a new, prettier one at Target for waaaay under a hundred bucks. I love being a rich American. Hmmm. I probably could've gotten one even cheaper at Walmart.
Today Jay brought home the new dishwasher. It's pretty and white and has a roomy interior. It's not as quiet as the old one, but maybe that's because it actually washes the dishes.
I take it back. It just finished filling and now it's silent. I hope it's still working...yep.
Nice, new dishwasher.
It's time to go to bed. God is in his Heaven and all is right with the world.
