Our youngest child, Josie, only aims to please.  She has always been a very charming little person who's mission in life is to make sure that everyone she comes across loves her.  It comes easily to her, as she's the quintessential people person who loves everyone God made.

It's really nice to have a kid like this.  Our oldest, Ty, is so intense and driven that even when he relaxes, he extreme relaxes.  I swear, that kid vibrates in his sleep.  Katie is even more driven than Ty but she never lets it show.  She's the most competitive person I've ever known, and I've known a lot of crazy-competitors, but she only competes at things she knows she's good at.  She's not only good at lots of things; she great.  She's also lazy, sarcastic and really, really funny.  Zack is by far the easiest going of the bunch.  He's so easy going he's spending his summer catching up on the work he was supposed to be doing all school year.  His brother thinks Zack may be the coolest kid he's ever known.  His older sister thinks he's the funniest person on Earth.  His little sister thinks he's a big poop head.  I think they're all correct.

Anyway, after those three, it's really nice to have one that even after a decade, wants nothing more than for her parents to think she's terrific.

For his birthday and Father's day, she gave Jay, among other things, some coupons for work around the house.  One of these was a coupon to wash his car.  Being the sweetheart he is, he asked her to use that coupon to wash my minivan.  I never take the time to run it through the car wash (What, you think it isn't going to rain soon?) and the filthy film on my car drives him nuts.  So he asked Josie to wash the van.

She was very excited.  She was going to make good on her birthday gift and not only make her Dad happy, but her Mom, too, as the minivan was going to look better than it had since Easter.

She used a scouring pad.

Fortunately she realised her mistake and didn't touch the driver's side.  It's still caked with a half inch of dirt.

Later on, as I surveyed with horror what had happened to the finish on my car, she asked "Except for that, did I do a good job?"
