Traitors among us

I understand why the Bush Administration is loth to prosecute the New York Times for aiding and abetting the enemy in the war on terror.

The moonbats on the left have been screaming about getting thrown in concentration camps ever since GW's reelection.  Now that their largest single institution has committed treason, they can all pretend that the behavior of the Times is irrelevant and that prosecution was inevitable and merely politically motivated.

I can see the bumper sticker now:  Treason is the highest form of Patriotism.

I would love it if the Times were held accountable for their irresponsible decision to  declassify a covert operation that was helping us fight terrorists but I won't hold my breath.  After all, if a reporter knows about something, even something classified, that reporter is going to spill it.  That's what they do.  They're like monkeys with handguns; someone is going to get hurt.

The real question seems to me ; Who gave the monkey the gun?  No one at the times had clearance to see this.  Someone, maybe a lot of people, had to break the law to tell them.  These moles have no First Amendment to hide behind.  They all knew better.  They don't have the excuse "I'm a reporter, I have a duty."

In another era, what these leakers have done would've been called sabotage and no rock would be left unturned to find them and shoot them for the traitors that they are.

That's what I want to see.

Hang a couple of leakers and we won't have to worry about the NYT anymore.

I once was a journalist who focused on military affairs. Journalists in this field (and related fields) often had to receive background briefings, including a great deal of classified information, in order to write intelligently. In those days, responsible journalists (even at the NYT) did not give away classfied information because (1) they would have lost all their sources and effectively would have been put out of business, but (2) mainly because they were patriotic Americans who were on America's side. In my view, the reporters and editors of today's NYT are not on america's side; they are traitors. They won't be tried as such, but there certainly should be Congressional hearings that spotlight their disgraceful anti-American behavior. And those who leaked this information to them should be unearthed and tried for treason.
