Save me from the Stupids

I stopped reading the paper over a year ago.
Oh, I still look at it. I like the movie reviews and I like to know what dvd's are coming out soon. I also like the Sudoku and cross word puzzles. What I don't do anymore is try to glean some actual "news" from the Strib.
It has to be the worst paper in the country. It just has to be. I hate to even imagine how a major paper could be any worse.
I think the papers unofficial motto is "No Substance makes it into Print. Not here, Not ever."
What's left is about seven pages of DFL* dogma and seventy four pages of ads.
Back in the days when I used to waste six whole minutes reading it from front to back, it invariably made my blood boil. Who needs it?
So then I started writing this blog. I thought perhaps I should start reading the damn thing again, just to give the mill some grist. After all, as anyone who knows me is aware, I can get very into politics. Very emotionally engaged, if you know what I mean. And I'm a hard core, right wing extremist. By that, I mean I'm pro-life and anti-terrorist. These days, that's all it takes to be "extreme" and doesn't everyone want to be "extreme"? Mountain Dew sure thinks so. Hmmmm...maybe it's just dumb ass young men who want to be extreme...
Anyway! Just the thought of having to spend one more minute of my already jam-packed days reading that ridiculous rag had me as depressed as the idea of having to repeat high school. Then, a fellow blogger reminded me that there are about three billion blogs out there already who have the whole political thing covered.
Especially here in my neck of the woods, where a lot of locals are big time, conservative bloggers. They do it very well, very quickly and very loudly. They don't really need my help.
What a relief. I don't have to poke myself in the brain by reading the Stupid Tribune again. There will be times of course, when something will be so outrageous as to come to my attention, like those self satisfied asshumps who want all of us to pay more taxes so they can feel charitable, and then my bile will explode all over this page, but in the meantime, I'll let others carry that burden.
