A Tale of Two Nevvies

Jay has a nephew who has always been a top student. Honor roll from day one, he went on to become the first member of the family to earn a PhD and landed himself a professorship before the age of thirty. Tall and skinny, one could be forgiven for assuming this kid had never played sports in his life. He's married to his college sweetheart, who gives music lessons to kids and looks like an opera singer.
Jay also has a nephew who is a black belt in tae kwon do. Not only could this blond, blue eyed, dimpled doll kick your ass, he plays saxophone professionally. He is so talented that by the age of 25 he had backed up no less a personage than Ray Charles himself. This one is married to a dusky hued aerobics instructor.
Which one sounds like more fun to hang out with?
That's a trick question. Both descriptions are of the same young man. Jay's nephew Matt is a professor of Jazz at a college in California and his Phd is in saxophone performance and theory. He earned his black belt before his PhD. He's married to a gifted musician who also loves teaching aerobics. The opera singer she looks like is Emmy Rossum.
By carefully choosing what I said about Matt, I was able to give two completely different impressions of him. I didn't have to lie, I simply picked the facts that fit the story I wanted to tell.
And I've never even taken a journalism class.
