A good day

Yesterday was a really good day. I got up early and Josie and I went for a long bike ride. We went half way to the falls and back. We couldn't go any farther because the kids had dentist appt's at 11:00. Everybody's teeth are good. After lunch, I walked around the lake with my parents, which is always fun. Then I talked with my brother Joe for a while. He's stuck in his crash pad in Newark, waiting out tropical storm Ernesto. Then I worked on the kids furniture set I'm painting until Jay came home and cooked me dinner.
Pork chops on the grill. Mmmmm...
Meanwhile, our tv that had been in the shop was declared beyond repair so the store replaced it with a newer model and we're back to having two hidef sets. Yay!
Josie slept at Maddies, Zack and I watched a movie.
The weather was perfect.
Today, more of the same. It's eighty degrees, no humidity, not a cloud in the sky. I ate lunch outside and maybe I'll eat dinner out there, too.
The price of oil has plummeted and it occurs to me that if Republicans want to hold the house and senate, they should call for a temporary moratorium on all gas related taxes. Wouldn't that be hilarious? All those politicians yammering about price gouging would have to choke on their words if anyone actually proposed that they do the one thing government can actually do to reduce prices.
Bush could call for the abolition of gas taxes until, oh I don't know...we double the number of refineries operating in the country? Or til the price of gas comes back down to under forty dollars a barrel...or til next spring. Or for ever.
Won't happen of course. The Republicans don't have the guts, imagination or sense of humor.
I have to go run.
