Well, fall has arrived.  This is my favorite time of the year; warm days, crisp air, football, cocoa, the change of colors as the nights and then the days cool off...

This year it has arrived like fat, smelly guy on a bus and the only seat left is the one next to you.  And he's eating a meatball sub.

It has been cold and rainy for years.  I'm sick of it.  The leaves are turning, all right.  They're turning into a soggy grey mess everywhere.

If only we could do something about it.  I mean, don't you just wish that mankind could use technology to influence the weather, even the climate itself?  I do.

My siblings are all over www.nbcsports.com.  Our friend John Walters has figured out a way to get his buddies to do his job for a few weeks while he's on assignment.  There's even a picture of my sister, Katie.  The martini glass in her hand was cropped out, but it's a good pic.
I haven't really forgiven NBC for killing JP off of ER, but maybe it's time for me to let go.

Yesterday we took the kids to see Invincible.  We all loved it.  A big chunk of delicious cheese was exactly what I needed after the piece of mold I had chewed on the night before.  I watched The Libertine, starring Johnny Depp and John Malkovich.  Those guys are two of my favorite actors so even though the movie got lousy reviews, I thought "How bad can it be?"

Turns out it can be pretty dam bad.  My review of The Libertine:  Yuck.

My review of Invicible:  I WANNA PLAY FOOTBALL FOR THE EAGLES TOO!!

Last night I finished reading an old book called The End of Eternity.  Zack is taking a sci fi class in school and they talked about Isaac Asimov the first week.  I've heard of Asimov, of course, but never read any of his stuff, so I bought a stack for Zack and started reading one myself.  Guess what?  I loved it.  I had no idea what to expect but it turned out to be a love story and political thriller set in the far distant future and a totally unexpected twist and a philosophically surprising ending.
