Three things

Three interesting things happened in the news last week.
Rosie O'Donnell, in her quest to be relevant, said that Christian Fundamentalism was just as dangerous as the crazy wing of Islam. The fact that she dared to say it on tv proves that she knew it was a lie. She has absolutely no fear of sword wielding nuns trying to saw off her big fat head.
Pope Benedict VI made a speech that offended the crazy wing of Islam. I read his speech. He has nothing to apologize for. The speech put me in mind of the last chapter of Peggy Noonan's wonderful book, John Paul the Great. She theorized that John Paul II will be canonized and that his first miracle was the ordination of Pope Benedict VI. She refers to Benedict as Big Ben, because he knows what time it is.
I was really hoping that when Bush spoke to the UN, he would simply say "You've been evicted. You have thirty days to clear out." I was disappointed that he did no such thing, but what has happened afterwards has more than made up for it. Conservatives could never have dreamed up a more persuasive or entertaining ad campaign than the Ahmadinejad/Chavez tour that recently swept the east coast! America was watching as those two wild and crazy guys ran around spouting MoveOn.org slogans. I loved every minute of it and I wish it had lasted a little longer. There might still be a voter out there who wasn't floored by the similarity of the rhetoric those two rabid dogs were spouting and the statesmanship of Senators Kennedy, Kerry and our favorite Democrat, Howard Dean.
We live in interesting times.
