I just finished Act of Treason, Vince Flynn's latest epic, starring the ever lovely Mitch Rapp.  For this book, I imagined Mitch as looking like Nick Lea.

Mmmm.....Krycek.

I had one complaint about the book: it was too short.

It doesn't look short, but it is.  I finished it in two days and I didn't even stay up all that late.  Act of Treason was just another exciting romp through Mitch's world of torture, mayhem and utter satisfaction and it was over way too fast.  It had a terrific ending.  Vince (or Mitch, I guess) is getting better at one liners but I still think Vince would benefit from reading Louis L'Amour, the King of the snappy lines.

Mr. L'Amour is the writer who came up with this bit of dialogue:

"Tough?  You wouldn't make a pimple on a tough man's neck."

You know who is tough?  Josie.

Zack and I just finished watching Hostage, starring Bruce Willis.  This was Bruce's crying movie.  In Hollywood, the most beautiful actresses win Oscars for movies in which they play ugly.  The crying movie is the tough guys equivalent to that.  You know, like how Brad Pitt wept his way through Legends of the Fall.  Between shots of him riding over the ridge, blonde hair flowing out behind him, he cried.  A lot.  Didn't win an Oscar, though.  He was just still too pretty.

The movie was okay, but while I'm watching Bruce be all sensitive and weepy and I'm waiting for him to finally remember where he hid his balls, Josie, who had gone to bed with a toothache, decided she'd had enough.  So she went into the bathroom and quietly yanked the molar right out of her mouth.

With her bare hands.

Bruce can cry all he wants.  My baby girl would definitely make more than a pimple on a tough man's neck.
