So after three days of work I got the tree up and lit.  Josie whirled around it for about ten minutes this morning and when she was done it was all decorated.  Looks spectacular!  Now I have to get the mantle greened up and I can call it a year.

While I worked, I listened to Christmas music, in particualr a cd that my brother sent me.  It's got all kinds of Christmas tunes on it by current pop stars.  Some of them I've heard of, some of the songs are great.  But I swear, Christina Aguilera sang something called "I wanna get Laid for Christmas."

That just doesn't seem right.

Christmas, with it's candles, presents and firelight, is certainly a romantic time of the year but listening to some crooner squeal about a very special Christmas cuz Baby, it's cold outside, rings all the romance right out of it for me.  I don't like songs that use Christmas as an excuse to get some.

But I hate the "Death in my stocking" songs.  You know; the song where Mom's dying so let's run out and buy her some shoes so she'll look all pretty for Jesus, who apparently has a foot fetish.  Randy Travis sang some boppy tune in which he winds up in jail for Christmas and his mom croaks before he gets out.  Happy.  John Denver sings one that's actually called "Daddy, Please don't get Drunk for Christmas".  I don't think anyone expires in the tune, but it's bad enough.  I have to believe that somewhere there's a Martina McBride Christmas cd in which someone dies in every single song.  It's probably called The Little Match Girl.

Just in case you were all happy and stuff.

I've been ordered to go watch Overboard.
