WRONG!

I'm very happy to report that Minneapolis Public Schools has not decided to treat all citizens as criminals.
I had a talk today with the Athletic Director at Southwest and he answered my questions, starting with "Why did the security guard want to see my ID?"
Answer; he didn't.
He asked for ID's, and will continue to do, so simply to establish a presence at these events. I could have shown him my library card; he didn't care. Asking for ID's seemed to make more sense than having the cop introduce himself to everyone as they entered the gym. He wasn't there to hassle anyone, just to make sure he was seen.
The incident that has spurred heightened caution at the sports events had to do with students at two particular schools. It's only these two schools which will not allow students other than those who attend one of the participating schools access to those events. A student can go to any event at any school if accompanied by a parent.
All the other schools are simply employing whatever methods they have at hand to establish a security presence on site to dissuade any evil doers.
This makes sense to me. I don't have a problem with the schools flashing a little muscle as a deterrence. I don't have a problem with minors not being allowed to roam about the city at night in flocks. My only problem was the fear that the city, in it's zeal to prevent crime, had decided to treat all of us as criminals, which I thought was an over reaction.
Much like my yelling "Fascists!" before I had all the information to connect the dots was an over reaction.
Hmmm. Seeing a situation, jumping to a conclusion, calling names...all before I have the facts...
I should have my own show on MSNBC!
