Hope and Glory

Last night, Zack's team had a game over in St. Paul at the exact time that Josie had a practice here. Josie is old enough to get herself home and be here by herself, but I really didn't want to go all the way to St. Paul to see Zack play two minutes while his team dropped another one.
It paid off; Southwest won!!
Zack called from the gym right after the game to tell us (Jay was working and couldn't make the game either, but was home by then) that they won and we yelled and hollered and danced around the house.
All they need to do is win two more to tie Joey's record with SW basketball.
Josie and I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark last week. She'd never seen it. She loved it, of course but said she wished there was more fighting in it. She also said she thought Han Solo was way cuter than Indiana Jones. I guess she doesn't care for hats.
We want to watch Temple of Doom next, but it's hard to find time. Monday, I watch 24, Tuesday and Wednesday there's basketball games, Zack has a game on Thursday this week but Friday looks good. Maybe Saturday we can finish up with The Last Crusade. Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out how to get her to bed before ten o'clock at least once this week.
Yesterday, I bought her a pair of skates but I don't know when she'll find time to use them. She's taking a month off from Karate, since the classes conflict with her basketball schedule. Skates will keep her excercizing and she can skate with Maddie and Meg. Zack will probably try to get her to play goalie.
It's really great living on the park like this; while the rest of Minnesota gets the midwinter blahs, the view out my front window is just as great in the winter as the summer; instead of green trees and baseball games, we have winterland and skating. Last year there were two rear end collisions right in front of our house because drivers were watching the hockey game instead of traffic.
I think this is the first time I haven't seen a single picture nominated for best pic Oscar. I don't think I will either. Katie and I tried to see all the nominees last year and after two, we wanted our money and our time back. We didn't get either. This year I'll skip the whole nonsense and consentrate on watching classics with my kids. I have to add Help!, Backbeat and The Buddy Holly Story to my netflix list.
