Watching 24 is fun, but it's really fun when you do it with a former spook.  That's why I didn't mention the name of the person who's house we were in last night; I don't want to wake up some night with a bag over my head being transported to an undisclosed location to be punished for leaking sensitive material.  You're never really a 'former' spook.

I'd leak all right, but I don't think it would be 'sensitive material'.  I'd probably scream "Valerie Plame!!" just to get them to stop.

Last night's ep was fun but reading Lilek's take on it at www.lileks.com was even better.

Our resident spook always knew exactly who would die but he kept laughing and saying "We wouldn't do it like that!" and "We'd never let him do that!" and lest you think he was referring to Jack's antics, he wasn't.  Mostly he meant they'd never really let the Dad have a private moment with his traitor son.  Our spook knew right at the beginning that when Dad shot the fellow dead it was to shut him up.  So did Jay.  Jay's never been a spook but he always knows what going to happen next on 24.  I think maybe Jay has a super hero secret identity.  I know I wouldn't recognize him if he took off his glasses, so...

Jay spent last weekend in Austin Texas, visiting Tyler.  They had a blast.  Ty's team had a game while Jay was there and he saw some big time Texas ball as well.  He had a great time with Tyler.

Being a parent is so strange.  Tonight Josie had basketball practice at the gym that's 100 yards from our front door.  Jay told her to call home when she got there so he wouldn't worry.  She called.  When Tyler was her age, we let him take a city bus from his school downtown to the Target Center where he was a ball boy for the Timberwolves.  Different kid, different parenting.  I can't even imagine a time when Jay will be okay with Josie taking a bus downtown by herself.  Then again, he did let Katie move to New Orleans.  I'm the one who broke out in hives when we left her there the first time.

Katie was disappointed that the Saints didn't make it to the Superbowl.  She said if they won it would've been a great boon for the city.  She said there would definitely have been rioting in the streets of New Orleans; folks would've run through the streets cleaning things up and putting them back together.  Well, NewO, there's always next year!
