It didn't take even twenty four hours for some people here in the twin cities to make political hay out of the tragedy of the 35W bridge.

  Pointing fingers over this is absolutely dispicable.  No one dreamed that this would happen.  No one made a decision to let this happen. Not the Republican governor who didn't insist on making the necessary repairs before the collapse and not the Democratic congress who didn't earmark the money specifically for those repairs.  Pretending that this is your political opponents' fault is nothing but rancid opportunism.  It makes me sick that I'm not at all surprised by it.  I've learned to expect this kind of shitty, no class behavior from the politicians and press here in this part of the country.

The 35W bridge was neglected not because of a lack of funds, but of misplaced priorities.  That some are jumping on the tragedy as an excuse to raise taxes is disgusting.
