Making no Sense

I pulled into the grocery store parking lot beside a truck that had a bumper sticker that read; "You can't legislate morality!"
You said it, brother! You can't legislate against immorality like lying, cheating, stealing, raping, killing...oh, wait. What?
You can't legislate actual morality, but it seems to me that moral behavior is about the only thing one can legislate. After all, you certainly can't legislate biology or physics, can you? You can legislate daylight savings time but not the autumnal equinox.
Maybe that bumper sticker was an attack on hate crime legislation?
Yeah, I don't think so, either.
Speaking of hate, this neighborhood used to be full of tiny cars with "Hate is Not a Family Value!" stickers on their bums. I never see those any more. They've all been covered up with "Buck Fush!" stickers.
