MEA weekend

Here in Minnesota, we give the teachers a long weekend in October to do whatever it is they do that they can't possibly get done during summer, or any of the other random days off we give them during the course of the year.  If my kids went to school from the Tuesday after Labor day, Monday thru Friday, with the regular holidays off but no extra days tossed in, they could be done with the school year by Memorial day.  As it is, they don't get out for summer til the middle of June.

Last week was MEA.  I have no idea what that means for teachers, but for us parents, it means no school for four or five days.

So I did what any other rational woman would do, faced with an extra long weekend; I ran away from home.

Last Thursday, my partner in crime drove the getaway car to the airport, assured me that he would handle everything back here and I hopped on a plane to Denver.  I was joined en route by my cohorts; two sisters and Mom.  We were met at the western end by the fifth conspirator; Margy.

Margy had ordered her own partner in crime to remove any witnesses from the scene and he did as good a job as could be expected, seeing as they had school and other obligations.

So began the first annual Hubbell Girl's Weekend.

All the sisters in law were invited, but none of them could make it this year.   With luck, at least some of them will be able to join us next time.

I will write about the unclassified parts of the weekend, but not until I have a few more minutes than I have right now.

Rest assured, it was worth the trip.
