In about ten minutes I'll leave to pick up Josie and we'll head straight down to the gym for the first game of the season. 

  This is the eighteenth season of Marauder, no I mean "Maverick" basketball for us.  Hard to believe it's time for another season, but there it is.  It'll be fun to see the old gang, back in the bleachers.

The team's name has been changed from "Marauder", which has scary, violent overtones, to "Mavericks".  I guess our new mascot will be a Mel Gibson look-alike in a cowboy hat,  who cheats at poker and is given to antisemitic rants when he's been drinking.

Should be a great season!
