The Illusionist

Last winter, I went and saw The Prestige with Zack. He had read the book and really wanted to see it. I only knew it was about magicians and starred Hugh Jackman. That was enough to get me to see Swordfish, which sucked bad gas, so it was certainly enough to get me to see The Prestige.
I loved it. I found it creepy, suspenseful and fascinating right up to the ending, which I did NOT see coming.
I put The Illusionist on my Netflix list a while ago. I figured it had been a long enough time since I saw the other movie-about-magicians to be able to give it a fair shake. I like Edward Norton, I think he's been very good in lots of movies and he wasn't responsible for the abomination that was Swordfish, so I was looking forward to the movie.
It sucked. Not as bad as Swordfish, but still. Here's my synopsis;
Nothing at all happens for an hour, then the magician performs illusions that are completely impossible and always have been, frames someone for murder, causes a suicide and lives happily ever after in an ending I saw coming from the heavy handed foreshadowing in the middle of the movie, some four hours earlier.
*Boo.
*not the scary kind, but the "hiss" and throw rotten fruit kind.
