Last night was fun.  I didn't actually watch the coverage, that would've been dull.  I knew Hillary would lose big simply by the way her people were spinning it as a moral victory by yesterday afternoon.  I knew Obama would win, because he just sounds so upbeat all the time.  I hope he takes the nomination, not because I think he'd make a good president, I disagree with him on every issue, but because I find the idea of an Obama administration a lot less horrifying than either a Billary or an Edwards administration.  Hillary has pretty much said she wants to take over not just health care, but all of corporate America and Edwards, with his talk of forcing people into a national health organization makes me want to take up smoking.  But at least an Obama administration doesn't seem like it would feature four years of vitriol on the nightly news.

Then I remember Jimmy Carter and I get the chills.

I was more disappointed than surprised by Huckabee's win.  I don't like Huckabee.  Yes, in the beginning I was taken by his personality, his charm, his quick wit and ability to think on his feet.  Ripping off a couple of good one liners in the debates did him worlds of good.  If we were voting for  student body president, I'd say Mike's the guy.  But we're talking Commander in Chief here, people, not Prom King.  Haven't we all had enough of charming Governors from Arkansas?  I think this one is just as phony as the last.

"Howdy!  I'm a retired Baptist Minister!  Romney is a cultist who thinks blacks can't go to Heaven.  Don't Mormons believe that Sweet Li'l Baby Jesus and the devil are brothers?  Hey, lookit this ad I made! It's so mean I decided not to show it to anyone but the press!  I'm a Baptist Minister!  Amen!"

He's the sort of Evangelical who gives Evangelicals a bad name.  You can say whatever you like about George W. Bush, but the way he has dealt with and referred to  his political rivals has always held to a much higher standard of Christian behavior than Huckabee's, which I have found to be disgraceful.

As for Huckabee's policies?  They remind me of Jimmy Carter's.
