This campaign keeps getting more hilarious by the day.
This morning I heard that McCain has enraged conservatives again. It seems that some loose cannon, right wing talk show host whom I've never even heard of, introduced Our Hero at some event last night and went so far over board in his disparaging comments about Senator Obama that McCain was forced to apologize for the slur and disassociate himself from the radio personality.
What did the guy say? I couldn't wait to find out what horrible epithet had been used to describe the senator from Illinois.
Turns out he called him by his full name.
Honestly.
Talk about audacity! I mean, really! How dare he use his full name?? THROW THAT GUY IN GITMO.
What.
The.
Hell?
It's his name.
Last time around, in '04, we were told it was going beyond the line to mention a senator's voting record. That was hitting below the belt. We were not to be told by the men who were there, the truth about the senator's service in Vietnam. The men who dared to do such a thing have actually been added to the political vernacular; "Swift boating", the act of telling the truth about a politician, is now considered below the belt.
And now we can't even call a man by his full name. It's not like his Name is Barack bleep Obama. Does he really want to be referred to as Barack He Who Must Not be Named Obama?
And what is McCain's problem? He seems to be far more concerned with protecting the feelings of his political opponents than of convincing anyone in his own party to support him. Either he buys into all the lies the
Democrats tell about Republicans,(if he ever apologizes for belonging to the party of racist, sexist, homophobes, I'm staying home in November) or he's the only person in the world who believes that George W. Bush's "new tone" in Washington actually works.
