Anyone who thinks Hillary is going to let Obama steal the nomination from her simply hasn't been paying attention these last sixteen years.
The Clintons have proved time and again that what is good for the Clintons is good for the Democratic party, even if that means losing both the House and the Senate and half the Governorships. Their family motto may as well be "Who cares? We got ours."
They will fight to the death to stay in the spotlight. If they can't run the entire country, at least they can run their own party. If some other Democrat takes the White House, Hill and Billy become second stringers. Better to cancel the show than to become supporting players in Barack and Michelle's revue.
Despite rumors to the contrary, Hillary is actually a woman, possessed of a remarkably strong maternal instinct. This instinct is what makes ordinary, meek, mild women run over you with their cars if they think you mean to harm any of their own. Unfortunately for all of us, what Hillary considers "her own" is not the United States of America, or the American people and what's best for all, but merely political power. As much of it as possible for as long as possible.
If Hillary can get her own eight years in, she and Bill will happily let the Republicans have a term or two. By then, Chelsea will be over 35.
Do you get it? We never married the Clintons, but we're stuck with them til death do we part.
I think it's a testament to Obama's naiveté that he actually dared to run this year. Win or lose, his political career is over and he has no idea. Once she's wrested the nomination from him, she'll destroy him to teach any other upstarts a lesson. If she fails to get the nomination, she'll work to undermine his campaign to prevent him from pushing Bill farther back in history. After all, who will remember the first "black" president, once we elect the first black president? If she somehow fails to prevent him from taking the White House, she'll work tirelessly to teach the country a lesson; that we should have elected her. She will magnanimously allow us to correct this mistake.
How will she get the nomination? Mathematically, she can't do it with delegates. But neither can Obama. It's all going to come down to the super delegates. Can she find enough dirt on him to convince the superdelegates that he's unelectable? She doesn't need it. She only needs enough dirt on the
superdelegates to convince them he's unelectable.
We may finally find out what Craig Livingston's job really was.
