Jay never wants to see movies.  The truth is Jay doesn't like movies.  He likes sitting in the dark and eating popcorn.  Anyway, last week he wanted to see the new Indy movie so we went.

We both loved it!  It's every bit as good as the first and third Indy movie.

Oh, come on, no one thinks Temple of Doom is as good as the others.  For starters, Kate Capshaw is so dam irritating I think we were all hoping Indy would kill her by the end.  For seconders, ripping a live, beating heart of someone is never as fun as you think it's gonna be.

I've heard some folks complain that they didn't like this one as much as the others.   My guess is that anyone who doesn't think this one is as good is probably under thirty.

Here's how it works; if you were an adult, as I was when Raiders came out, you can appreciate that this one is just as good.  If, however, you were a little kid when you first saw Raiders, you didn't understand at the time that nothing Indy did in the movie was actually possible. You didn't care; you were a kid and Indy was the coolest guy ever.  Now you're all grown up and you couldn't help thinking "That's ridiculous, no one can do that" while watching this one.  Of course no one can do it, that's why Indy and Mutt had to do it.

I actually heard a guy say "I can buy all the supernatural stuff, but not a guy swinging through the jungle on a vine with monkeys.  No one is strong enough to do that."

Oh, and crawling underneath a truck as it's speeding down a dirt road, only to climb up the back end and beat up an entire platoon of Nazis is possible??

The problem isn't the movie, it's that you're not six anymore.  You can't blame that on the movie.

It's not the pizza's fault that you get heartburn now.

And Shia LaBeouf can take over the franchise any time he wants as far as I'm concerned.
