There are some things only a mother can teach a girl.

The other day, Josie and I were watching some stupid sitcom on the Disney channel.  When I find myself in this situation, I always look for teaching opportunities in the hope that I can bore the kids so badly that it will put them off of stupid sitcoms for good.

Sure enough, soon we were watching some girl in the show get into a shoving match with another girl over a boy.

"If that ever happened to me," Josie said "I wouldn't waste time shoving; I'd punch her in the face and run away."

"Oh NO!"  I said.  "NEVER run away.  If you do that, sooner or later, she'll come after you.  After you knock her down you stand over her.  You do that and not only will she not get up, she'll never come after you and neither will anyone who saw it."

"Oh, yeah..." she nodded.  "It'll probably never happen, though."

Well, if it ever does, at least your mother raised you right.
