I had the weirdest dream last night.

I dreamed I was at MJ's house and we were playing with her new baby boy and MJ's cell phone rang.  She answered it and got a strange look on her face and handed me the phone.

It was Michael Buble, saying he'd designed a line of women's pajamas ( silken polar fleece!!) and he wanted to name it after me.

What in the world?!

Everybody knows I've been predicting MJ will have a girl since the second she told me she was preggers!

In fact, I've been predicting that someone in the family will have a girl in 2008 for twenty four years!

It was soon after my daughter Katie was born that I noticed a pattern.  My sister Katie is eight years younger than I am, our sister Mary Jeanne is eight years younger than Katie and I had my first daughter when MJ was eight.  So, in 1992, when I was 32, Katie was about to turn 24, MJ would celebrate her 16th and Katie P. her 8th birthday and Joe's wife Heidi told us she was pregnant, I immediately told her it would be a girl and I explained why.  She was skeptical until the moment her daughter Alex was born.

Guess what happened in 2000?

My brother Andy and his wife Vi had a baby girl.

Harriet will be 8 shortly after MJ's baby GIRL is born.

Mary Jeanne insists I'm a witch, but I'm not.  I'm just good at spotting patterns and you have to admit this one is pretty darn obvious.

I did know my second baby was a girl before I got pregnant with her.  I had a very vivid dream in which she was about four.  I can still see exactly how she looked in the dream; her haircut, her freckles, her jean-jacket.  I told Jay in the morning that we would have a daughter who was spectacularly beautiful, with almost black hair.  About six years later I looked at my five year old Katie and realized I was looking at the girl in the dream.  Same hair, same cut, every last freckle on her face with the same.  What really blew me away though was the jean jacket.  We'd gotten it in the boys department at Kmart.  It was exactly the same.  The only thing I had misjudged was her age.  Katie has always been tiny and she was actually older than I had thought.

Then, I'd been having baby girl dreams for two years before I got pregnant with Josie.  So even though she wasn't planned she wasn't a surprise either.  In fact, the first thought that crossed my mind when the test came up positive was "Oh, it's you."

A  few years after that, I had another dream in which I was pregnant and people kept asking me if I knew it was a girl. I had no idea.  So we wondered if that meant it was a boy, as I had known both my daughters were girls but had no idea about Ty and Zack.

"I don't know if it works that way," I said in the dream.  "Besides," I indicated my huge belly.  "This isn't mine."

Then next morning my sister Katie told me she was pregnant.

It was Molly, who naturally had to trumpet her arrival and I was the only person in the family who could hear her.

Anyway, I don't really predict anything.  I listen and they tell me.

Silken polar fleece??
