Look Out, it's the Weather!

I had my coffee this morning on the porch, enjoying a perfect, crystal blue July morning.  A little after nine, I went and painted the cellar I've been working on since the dark ages.  It's not really taking that much actual time, it's just that I only have an hour every ten days or so.  I really want to finish it.  I only have a little bit left but the wall I'm working on is almost out of arm's reach, so after twenty minutes my arm wants to fall off.  It's looking nice, though.

I was back home in my office painting at noon.  The sky turned black, it poured rain and hail.  Thunder and lightening made it seem impossible that it had been so gorgeous just an hour earlier.  There were even tornado sirens going off, but not in my neighborhood.

The weather was so bad the kids decided to go to a movie.

Before the movie ended the skies had cleared and it's been gorgeous ever since.

Katie and Molly were at a movie so dull that when the sun came out, they left without seeing the end or asking for their money back.  They were just happy to have something better to do.

So they went and visited MJ and her new baby, Annie.

Annie was born right on schedule; eight years after Hattie.

I just got back from Dick's Sporting Goods, where I bought guns for all the kids.  Sure they were air soft bb guns, but still.  Fire power is fire power.  Gotta start 'em out somewhere.

I'm a little bit jealous.

I bored them all to tears jawing on and on about all the rules regarding bb guns and told them that all the adults would be looking for an excuse--any excuse to take away the guns.  I hope they believe me but if they don't, they'll find out very quickly how serious I am.

Zack wants to know why I didn't buy him a gun.  Simple; I don't trust him as much as I trust Josie.

A brown belt in karate, a basic knowledge of sword play and now a gun.  Clearly, my youngest child will grow up to be a super hero.
