It was absolutely gorgeous on the porch this morning while I was having my coffee. I considered going for a long bike ride, or a run or some other out doorsy excersizy thing.
I finished The Great Train Robbery.
It was so lovely that I thought maybe I'd just pop on my shoes and run.
I had another cup of coffee and started a new book. It's called Twilight and apparently it's all the rage with the kids these days.
Katie came down stairs and we talked about running around the lake.
We talked about it until there wasn't any time left before she had to go to some seminar at school.
We decided to run around the lake when she got back.
I went up to my office and started working while Jay, Tyler, Tif and Josie went to the Twins game. I primed three footstools and painted an 9x11 for a kid's bedroom. After a couple of hours I was hungry and broke for lunch only to discover that a thunderstorm had mugged my gorgeous day and I'd missed my opportunity to get a work out in.
Oh well.
It cleared up enough so that Josie, Tif and I went to the Tin Fish down by lake Calhoun for dinner. Everything tastes better when you're eating at the lake.
Josie enjoyed her grilled chicken salad but kept an eye on the clock. She didn't want to be late for the beginning of the Olympic coverage. She kept nagging me to speed on the way home but I wouldn't. Much.
Now we're watching beach volleyball. Misty May and Kerri Walsh are dominating again. We're waiting to see men's gymnastics.
Last night we watched Michael Phelps win his tenth gold while we were at Mary Jeanne and Kent's house eating Frankie's pizza. The pizza was great and so was the swimming. We played scrabble while we watched. I won. I got the fifty point bonus by using all seven tiles on my first turn. Fortunately for me, none of the people I was playing with knew that "jubiness" isn't a word. Well, it is, but it's spelled with two Bs. No, of course I don't cheat at scrabble! Not with my kids, anyway. My first word was "earrings". I just lucked out with my letters. Poor Josie got stuck with the Q and never any Us. It rained while we ate and there was a rainbow later. Annie tried to sleep the whole time we were there, but we kept playing with her and trying to wake her up.
Wow, the Norwegian beach volleyball girls just gave up.
Kerri Walsh just said "We out-scrapped them."
Now
that's a great quote.
