I love the Olympics.  Jay doesn't but he humors me.  Tonight we watched the US men and women drop the baton in their 4X100 relay semi finals.  It looked like they didn't know what they were doing. I totally loved the guy who took the bronze in the 400 by throwing himself headfirst over the tape.

After lots of track and field we cut to the BMX track.  I thought it looked really stupid and thirty seconds later it was my favorite Olympic sport.  The phone rang and Mary Jeanne said it was her favorite sport, too. "How about that girl who fell on the first bump? She gets all the way to the Olympic finals and that's it; down, ten feet into the course. That looks like the most fun, ever."

Last night I baby sat for Annie.  MJ and Kent went to a movie.  For the first two hours it was just me and Annie watching the Olympics.  She dozed a lot but after she ate, she was wide awake.  I played with her and tried mightily to get her to laugh but the most I could get out of her were a few short smiles.  Then Zack came home from work.  He got down on the floor with her and talked to her and she loved him.  She gazed at him with the same look she gives her mom and she smiled and laughed at him.

"Can I hold her?"  he asked.  He was kind of excited that she was awake; she'd always been sleepy before when he'd seen her.  I picked her up and handed her to him and they laughed and talked to each other for twenty minutes.  Never in my life have I seen such a tiny baby flirt so outrageousy.  Zack was enthralled until
"AAAAhh!  she pooped on me!  Take her.  I don't do poop."

The honeymoon was over.

Then we watched Misty May and Kerri Walsh win their second gold in beach volleyball. 

So far my favorite Olympians are Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt.  Josie's fave is Shawn Johnson.  Jay's favorite is LeBron James.  Katie's favorite is Dara Torres.  Zack really likes Usain Bolt but his favorite of all is Misty May's butt.
