SARAH! SARAH! SARAH!

She was my dream pick!

I'm also a huge fan of Bobby Jindal but I think the state of Louisiana needs him too much.  Now, with Hurricane Gustov bearing down on the gulf coast, we'll see if anyone learned anything from Katrina.  Let Bobby J. clean up the bayou, then bring him to Washington.

Why am I so pumped about Governor Palin?  Let me count the ways;

She's a fiscal conservative.
She's pro-energy.  (That's real energy, not magic)
She's a conservationist.
She's pro-life.
She's a hockey mom.
When she played basketball her nickname was "the barracuda".
She's got five kids.
Her oldest son is in the army and will be deployed to Iraq next month.
Her baby is Down syndrome.  She talks the talk and walks the walk.
She's coached her kids' basketball team.
She's a member of the NRA.
She hunts.  For moose!!
She looks good on tv.
She sounds good on tv.
She has worked as a tv reporter and is comfortable in front of a camera.
She's a member of a steel workers union family.
She didn't tailor her education and career towards the accumulation of power.
She started her political career in the PTA.
She has actually rooted out corruption in her state.
She has actually challenged and beaten the status quo in her state.

It also doesn't hurt that she's a woman.  I loved that she gave a hat tip to both Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton in her speech today.  Disappointed in the end of Hillary's campaign?  You want to see a woman in the White House?  Prove it.

My favorite part of this choice as VP is that it tells me that McCain understands why we tossed the Republicans out in 2006.  Democrats like to think they took Congress back because the country decided that conservatism didn't work, but we conservatives out here know that Republicans lost support because they had stopped being conservative.  Sarah Palin is the poster girl (pin up girl?) for political conservatism that doesn't mind kicking Republicanism in the nuts.

Governor Palin is not just a Republican, she's literally the Anti-Democrat.  When she saw corruption in her own party, in her state, she didn't join it, make excuses for it or cover it up. She challenged it, fought it and beat it.  Ever see a Democrat do that?  Do you remember the '90's?

Today is a good day!

Governor Palin was my choice but I am surprised that McCain picked her. I am more of a believer in him as a pro-lifer and as a change agent - good change rather than just changing who is in charge. I hope that we will see her & Biden debate. It will really be something to watch.
