Many, many years ago, I began reading James Lileks in the StarTribune.  This was long before we got so fed up with that rag that we canceled it. 

Lileks made me laugh all the time.  I used to think of him as a Poor Man's Dave Barry.

Then I read more and laughed more and began to think of him as Minnesota's Dave Barry.

Then I read his books and laughed so hard I thought I'd done myself a bodily injury.

And I realized I had begun to think of Dave Barry as Florida's James Lileks.

I've been reading the Bleat (www.lileks.com) this week and it seems Lileks and Barry were hanging out together quite a bit in Denver.

I felt sort of like the way I did when I first heard Jimmy Buffett and George Strait sing together.  Or the way I felt that one time I found an almond joy in dark chocolate.  Or the time Rush Limbaugh interviewed Mel Gibson for the Limbaugh Letter, or watching Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth in Mama Mia! Or that time I found Jay wearing my shorts.  It's such a joy to find two of your favorite things together!

What does it say about me that I would much rather hang out with James Lileks and Dave Barry than with George Clooney and Brad Pitt?
