Like a broken clock being right twice a day, People magazines' silly and beloved Sexiest Man Alive issue finally put Hugh Jackman on the cover.  For perhaps the third time in twenty years, I had nothing to quibble about.  Until I got a look at the photo of Johnny Depp and thought "Oh, what's the use?"  Just crown him king and forgedaboutit.  I felt like my daughter Katie did after she first saw The Fellowship of the Ring; "Give it 'the Best Movie of All Time' award and cancel the Oscars forever."

The cover photo of Hugh is lovely.  Josie wanted the picture of Zac Efron.  It's a nice photo and Mr.Efron looks like a male in it, instead of a girl in drag.  He looks like a young Uncle Jesse, in fact.  Can't argue with that.  No gal worth her salt ever argued with Uncle Jesse.  Or Hugh.

But next to Johnny Depp they all look faded and uninteresting.
