Is It Friday Already??

This week has shot by like a dunk by Cortez Wallace.
On Monday, Josie had a game out in Excelsior. That's a haul and a half to make during rush hour any day of the year but on this particular day we happened to be having a blizzard. Excelsior is a lovely town twenty miles west of here. It's right on Lake Minnetonka and in fact, the Excelsior beach has become one of our favorite hang outs now that Mom and Dad moved out to Minnetonka themselves. It's not so nice when you leave home at 5:30 to drive through a blinding snow storm with every commuter in town, in a vain attempt to get to a gym in time for a seven o'clock game. We were late, but so was everyone else, so it didn't matter. Half our team never made it to the game and that did matter. We lost. The good news was that since the game got off to such a late start, it didn't end until 9:00 so although the roads were awful, at least there wasn't any traffic getting back to town and we were home in time for dinner by 9:30. The best news of all was that Jay had cooked us burgers which were ready for us the second we walked in the door. What a guy!
Tuesday I spent the morning dropping off and picking up orders. I did a little Christmas shopping. I spent the afternoon doing a calligraphy job. Starting at 3:30 I drove almost as much as the day before. Picked up Josie, brought her home, brought her back to school for practice, picked her up after practice, took her home to shower and eat then headed downtown to watch the Mavericks play Bismark at the dome. That was weird and wonderful. Two jucos playing on a temporary floor set up on a corner of the Vikings field with about fifty people in attendance. The place was so big that when we cheered the noise just sort of vanished into the ether. I felt like we were supposed to whisper.
Wednesday there was a Christmas party at the shop, so in addition to picking up orders, I got some fruitcake and I love fruitcake. I also picked up some threads to work a sample of a new line of Christmas ornaments I'm designing. They're going to be gorgeous!
Did a little more Christmas shopping and then Josie had another game Wednesday night. At least this one was at home. And we won! We actually are pretty darn good when the whole team shows up. The final score was 51-18. Josie didn't score but her defensive play was very good and she rebounded like Dennis Rodman.
Thursday I went out to Moms and baked cookies all day with Mom, MJ and Katie. We baked double batch of Crinkle cookies, a double batch of peanut butter kiss cookies, a double batch of Russian tea cakes, a batch of devil cookies and a batch of chocolate covered haystacks. It was fun and we couldn't have done it without Mom's two ovens, one of which is a convection oven so we had four trays baking at once. I didn't have to go anywhere Thursday night, so Josie and I watched A Christmas Story.
Today I got a little more shopping done then I finally hit my office and painted a child's rocker I'm working on and filled a few orders. Jay has a game but I'm not going. I don't like missing home games and in 28 years, I haven't missed many. But I'm tired and we're going out again tomorrow. So, tonight the Mavericks are just going to have to win without me.
P.S. The Mavericks won without me.
