Like everyone else, I was pleased to hear about the survival of the octuplets born in southern California but the
more I learn about the situation, the more outrageous I find it.
Nadya Suleman is a nutcase who should probably lose custody of all 14 of her kids.
She grew up an only child and has always dreamed of having a huge family. I think she misinterpreted her dream of being a kindergarten teacher.
She says she's a good mother, who holds each of her preemies for 45 minutes a day. Yeah, 45 minutes a day. That sounds about right for a newborn. When you have eight at once, 45 minutes each takes up six hours. That doesn't leave much time for the other six kids, does it? The fact that newborns, particularly preemies, need more than 45 minutes a day from mom is why humans aren't designed to bear eight at once.
And I got news for ya, Nadya; good mothers provide their kids with
fathers not just sperm donors. You just had six sons who have no male role model in their day to day life. The chances of these boys winding up in prison someday are astronomical. At least they won't have to join a gang; they already are one.
She claims she knows she'll be able to afford to raise all her kids once she finishes her education. She's working on a Master's Degree and plans on a career as a counselor.
Well, I was wondering what she was going to do with all her free time!
I saw that dvd; "How to Get a Master's Degree in Seven Minutes Day! " right next to the ones titled "Flat Abs in Forty Seconds!" and "Earn Millions Without Getting Out of Bed!"
And of course, I don't know any counselors who don't earn enough money to support 14 kids, do you? All those Gucci clad gals getting mani/pedis and hanging out at the Galleria? Married to counselors, every one of 'em.
Not only does Nadya Suleman's definition of a good mother not include giving her kids a dad, it apparently doesn't include being around them much while they're babies and abandoning them for a full time job as soon as possible.
But the worst, the absolute worst, is how she deliberately chose to endanger the lives of as many of her own children as possible to satisfy her whim.
"Those are my children and that's what was available. It's a gamble." she said.
A gamble. Sure. What the hell. It's just the lives of your children.
Pregnancy, labor, and child rearing is a lot of work. Things can go wrong at any point in the process and accidents and tragedies happen. Good mothers, hell
average mothers move heaven and earth to make things as safe as possible their kids. Implanting yourself with eight babies at once is begging for trouble, along the magnitude of letting your toddler play unsupervised on a steeply pitched roof, five stories above the interstate at rush hour. Yeah, she 's a goooood mother.
If Suleman had been involved when
Solomon offered to split the infant between two mothers, she would've yelled "Cut it into little chunks, I always wanted a big family!"
I hope, for the sake of 14 little kids, that I'm wrong and that they beat all the odds stacked against them and grow up into happy, healthy, productive citizens. Who knows? Maybe some lonely millionaire who always wanted a big family of some other man's get will fall in love with Miss Suleman and give her and her brood a stable family. It could happen.
What I really want to know is who is the doctor who served this head case? By whose ethics is it acceptable to implant eight kids into an unmarried, unemployed woman? Anyone who actually cares about the well being of children should want this guy's head on a platter.
And who paid for all this? In-vitro fertilization isn't cheap and Suleman has been returning to this trough like a crack whore to her pipe. She repeatedly claims that she won't take welfare. Does disability really cover this kind of procedure?
Who paid for this debacle? If California is paying for the elective fertilization of any narcissistic uterus with a dreams of grandeur, it's no wonder the state is as broke as a drunk after a binge, with no hope of ever knowing solvency again.
Europeans are
refusing to reproduce at all and here we get women like this pumping out over a dozen.
When you get down to it, this is just the latest chapter of a
horror story that's been going on for over forty years.
