It's cold out. It's August 1st, the sun is shining and it's a beautiful day but it's cold out. The thermometer in my kitchen says it's 70 in the house. I have a sweatshirt on and I'm shivering. Is this how it's supposed to be? I don't really mind. I got a lot of work done today and I didn't have to have my air conditioner on. It feels like late September.
Last night it rained a nice hard rain for a while. It lasted for over an hour and we really need the rain. When I went to bed, Jay had closed our windows most of the way to keep out the water. It had stopped raining by then so I opened them up wider. There was a breeze and it smelled so good out. Good sleeping weather.
Sometime in the middle of the night, I was dreaming that I was at some kind of sporting event with little kids and we were huddled together on a blanket, trying to remember if there were any other, warmer blankets around that we could wrap up in. We were freezing. I woke up and Jay had tugged the comforter off me. I was freezing! The open window was just a few inches from me and my left arm was like an icicle. I pulled it in under the covers, yanked the comforter back over myself and tried to get back to sleep but my frozen arm was too cold. There was no where to put it. So I rolled over and put it on Jay. Even in summer he wears a sweatshirt to bed, so my frozen appendage didn't bother him.
Until he tried to snuggle my arm.
"AAAAHH!! What is that??"
"It's my arm."
"Why is it so cold?"
"You took all the covers and it's FREEZING IN HERE."
We managed to get back to sleep and we both dreamed that we were stranded out on the Alaskan tundra.
It's probably warmer there.
