The weather has been spectacular since school started.  Isn't that just the way it always is?  I drop Josie off in the morning and drive home around the lake and it's so beautiful that I finally brought my camera with me yesterday and stopped and took a few pictures.  Yesterday was the first day in two weeks where the sun didn't rise pink, and the lake wasn't all opalescent but it was still lovely.

Last Friday we went up to Coon Rapids to have dinner with Bob and Maureen who are leaving after forty years in the same house.  In a few weeks they are off to Arizona, where all their grand kids live.  It makes perfect sense but we'll miss them around here.

It was all the brothers and sisters (in law).  We had meat loaf, baked potatoes and green bean casserole.  It was delicious.  We came up with a great idea for a "road trip" movie for middle aged women; a grandma and her five sisters in law go to Arizona and kidnap her grand daughter so that her daughter has to move back home.  Hilarity ensues.  I can see Meryl Streep in the lead.

Saturday started out well but the afternoon was rough for me.  In the morning, Jay and I went and watched Josie's first game of the tournament she was in.  The Lakers lost.  After that, we stopped at a local nursery and looked at trees.  We'd like to plant a couple of ever greens in front of  the house and we'd love another shade tree in the back yard.  Finally I had to go home and get to work.

That's where I ran into trouble.  I was trying to antique two footstools and I put the wrong type of paint on as a base coat.  Note to self; never, never, never use flat paint when antiquing.  I spent the entire afternoon on those stools, skipped walking around the lake and they didn't work out.  I had to start over on Sunday.

Saturday night Jay went to the Gopher's opener at the new stadium.  We played Airforce and won.  Zack was out of town at a music festival and Josie was at a sleep over with the volley ball team.  I joined Katie, Mike and Fran and we hit Keegan's for a blogger's party, then chips and salsa at one of our favorite Mexican places.

Sunday I corrected two mistakes I'd made on Sunday; I  off an hour and walked around the lake and then I put a coat of semi gloss paint on the footstools.  The top coat wiped right off and the antique finish was perfect.  Then I painted the top designs for the stools and they looked gorgeous.

Today was another beautiful, hot day.  I went up to the shop to drop off and pick up orders early.  Joanne has the place almost finished for the new show.  She had gotten her hands on a stack of antique gold frames so she had me do copies of famous paintings to put in them.  They do look really good.  I steal from the best: Monet, Wyeth, Homer and Larsen.

I finished all my errands by lunch time so Mom, Mary Jeanne, Annie and I spent the entire afternoon wandering around the lake and the rose gardens.  It was the best possible way to spend the day.
