Letters from the Looney Bin

March madness is here, of course.
Everyone who's remotely interested in sports thinks they know what that phrase means. March Madness. Of course; it's tournament time. Most notably the NCAA division I tournament.
Let me describe what it's like in the home of a basketball family;
Last weekend was a frenzy of everyone filling in their brackets. Screams, crying and gnashing of teeth followed when the computer didn't want to print out the brackets in a timely manner. Much smack was thrown at each other as Josie chose her teams based on color of uniform and the sound of their names. She likes Villanova because she likes to say "Villanova". She doesn't like Kansas because it begins with a "K". Her brothers have both chosen Kansas to win.
Jay got back from Vegas on Wednesday morning just in time to fill in his own bracket, tape it to the wall next to the kids' and Thursday morning he was planted in front of his big hi-def tv at 10:30 a.m. to watch one game with a laptop open and on to watch another at the same time.
Downstairs, Zack, who is on spring break as well, is watching on another big tv. They don't want to watch together because they are cheering for different teams.
This went on until the last whistle blew, some time around midnight.
I was watching a dvd on the porch, trying to ignore the screams and cheers coming from all areas of the house.
At about 11:30, I heard Zack screaming in the basement. Now, usually when Zack yells like that, it's because a bat has buzzed his head. I ran to the stairs and yelled "What's wrong?"
There was a long pause and then he said "Guy couldn't make a lay up."
This will go on for three more weeks.
Jay had Georgetown going all the way. They were upset in the first round.
March Madness.
