Great Weather

The beginning of the week was beastly hot. Up into the nineties with high humidity; very uncomfortable. We put the window air conditioners in upstairs so Josie could sleep and I could work. We turned on the central air.
It didn't work.
It didn't work last year either. We had a technician come out and he said all the coolant had leaked out. He refilled it but told us that the unit was at least 25-30 years old, was so energy inefficient it wasn't even on the scale and that the coolant might last all summer but it might leak out in a week. It lasted all summer but we weren't too surprised that it didn't work now.
We've already ordered a new unit. Hopefully it will be installed before August.
I'm not going to worry about it. If worst comes to worst we can always get a window unit for our bedroom. As long as I can work and sleep, I don't care if I sweat the rest of the time.
After two days of awful heat, we got a thunderstorm, the humidity broke and the temps came down to nice levels and it's been spectacular for the last few days.
MJ and I have been taking the girls to walk around the lake every day this week. Yesterday, Johnny joined us and regaled us with exciting stories that usually involved him being in an exotic vehicle of some sort, which was crashing or sinking. Johnny is four.
Today Grandma was able to join us. We started out up by the old house, where a new house is being built in what had been our side yard. The neighbors all hate the new building but we think it's going to be a pretty sweet house.
I've spent the last three days doing the cover art and calligraphy for Ty and Megan's wedding invitation. I sent them a photo of the design and they both loved it so now all I have to do is mock it up and print it.
Josie and I got our tickets to Austin for after school's out. We're going to spend a week down there, helping to paint the house. I'm also going to paint Ty's Big Ass Painting that he asked for as a Christmas present. It's alot easier to do it on the spot than to ship it down there. I'll have to gather some research materials, but that shouldn't be too hard.
Mom wants to go to Texas also, but she won't be able to. She has out of town guests coming in at almost the same time and if she goes anywhere, it would be to Denver for Cary's high school graduation party.
This is going to be such a busy summer it makes me tired just to think about it, but everything that 's happening is a good thing and it's all going to be fun.
Right now, it's a ridiculously gorgeous evening, Jay is cooking country style ribs out on the grill and Lee beat Crystal last night on the American Idol finale, which surprised me but not too much.
All's good.
