So, I'm in Texas, visiting Tyler and Megan and admiring their new house. It's a great house. It's big, with a nice layout and open floor plan. Four bedrooms, one of which is positioned so that it could be an office instead, which is how they'll use it. The house has two full bathrooms. The front hall is pretty and opens up to a beautiful living room, which leads to a formal dining room and then to the kitchen at the back, which opens to the back yard where they will build a deck off the back door as soon as they can. A friend is giving them trees as a wedding present so they'll be able to have some shade by the deck.
The house sits on five acres which the three horses, Jack, Ginger and Harvey seem to really love. The two dogs, Etty and Dolly are quite happy out there, too. Across the street is a corn field which already has huge ears already but we think it's feed corn, not sweet so there's no point in running out there at dusk and stealing some.
Not that I would do that.
The house has huge windows and very high ceilings. The bedrooms are all big with huge closets. the bathrooms are big but need a little bit of decorating. I guess they need a little plumbing but the showers I've taken have been phenomenal.
The whole house was painted a golden oatmeal color and that's what we're changing. Ty and Megan have already painted three bedrooms so we're concentrating on the kitchen, dining room and living room.
We've already painted the kitchen; we got to work as soon as we could, which wasn't very early because the cable guy was late. IT's no wonder everyone hates those f********s. Anyway, we finally got to the paint store around three. We got two shades of a very pretty soft green. the lighter color on the walls and a shade darker under the cupboards and in the alcove with the windows. It looks great. Ty and Megan had already had new floors put in the whole house; a gorgeous hard wood floor through out the living and dining room, tile in the foyer, hall and kitchen and a different tile in the bathrooms. All the bedrooms have new carpet, so all the floors are new and pretty. Today, we painted the dining room a beautiful deep mahogany color called "Cowboy suede". Oh, I forgot to mention that the house has archways between all the rooms; very pretty.
Ty's bringing home two shades of neutral browns for the living room; milk chocolate and lindhurst timber. Tomorrow morning we'll get started on the living room and we're all excited about it.
The windows are huge but the view is so pretty; rolling hills corn fields and trees in the distance, that I wish there were even more, bigger windows. Of course, very few houses have enough windows for me.
In addition to the nice windows, the house has ten foot ceilings, so there is tons of wall space, my cond favorite thing in a house. I know, my two favorite things fight with each other; windows and wall space. So what? I'm going to paint them a huge picture for the wall above the sofa. We've got so many things planned that I don't know when we'll do them all, but we're trying as hard as we can and we're having fun doing it.
Now it's time for dinner; home grown steaks from Megan's dad. Then a movie and hopefully we'll get to bed before 1:00 am tonight. Last night we painted til 9, had dinner at 10 and didn't start the movie we watched til 11. That's too late.
Josie has been diligently getting her online phy-ed work done. How did I wind up with such workaholics for kids?
Now I must go make guacamole.
