Summer officially started this week; the Franks came to town. They didn't all arrive at once. Margy and the boys were supposed to get here late Wednesday night, but Monday morning, Grandma Punkin got a call asking if it was all right if they came into town early. Grandma said "of course." to which Margy replied "Good. We're in Nebraska."
So real life went on hold on Tuesday.
Since then, we've been up too late, eating and drinking too much every day.
More Franks will roll into town this week, as Jeff and BJ will be coming in, although too late to play in the family tournament.
Friday night, we walked, enmasse, from Katie's house, where we had an impromptu picnic of hot dogs and chips, to the Band stand to watch a sing along version of Grease. It was a blast!
Seriously, what could be better than a movie outside by the lake on a warm, balmy breezy (no bugs) evening? I suppose if the movie sucked it wouldn't be so good, but it was Grease! They blipped out all the dirty words (or dirty seeming words) on the sing along part.
On the walk home, which was around 11:30, we moms all ditched our kids to Joe and Andy and we laughed all the way home, even though nobody did anything they weren't supposed to do, no matter how much Heidi wanted to. Jen had a thermos full of gin and tonic, I think.
We've been to the Shady Oak beach ( high dive on the dock makes it a favorite of the kids) an outdoor YMCA pool, and the St. Louis Park pool. It's been quite hot all week. Strangely clear and not too much humidity; didn't see a cloud in the sky til yesterday.
Now we're heading to Tim's for the Pivec 4thtakular. Zack can't come; he has business obligations.
Later, when I have time, I'll explain why it's always good to have a Plan B.
