I had plans to walk around Lake of the Isles with my cousin Susie yesterday.  We were going to meet at the Tin Fish at 11:00.  At quarter to, it was pouring rain and thundering outside.  Even Lake of the Isles is kind of a drag under those circumstances.

So we decided to wait until 1 and see how it was.

Susie lives over near Calhoun and Isles.  Here on my side of Harriet, it was still pretty dark and stormy at ten to 1, so I called her and asked what it was like over there.  It's only about three miles away but the storms this summer have been small.  Sure enough, she told me over there it was grey but hadn't rained in quite a while.  In fact, it was so hot and sweaty in her apartment, that any excuse to get outside was welcome.  So we decided to go for it.

I ran down to my car, only to remember that if I didn't have Zack help me put the seats in, they wouldn't go in for days.

MJ and I had taken the seats out earlier in the morning so she could pick up some yard toys for her babies that Andy and Vi's kids have already outgrown.  I played with Punkin and Bananas while she picked up the toys.

Zack helped me put the seats back and I went over to Calhoun.

It was hot out.  It's amazing how how mid eighties can feel when it's as muggy as the jungle.

It was a really good walk; I haven't walked around Isles this year and I haven't talked to Susie in months.  Her hair, which had been blonde, is now a really  pretty dark auburn.  Susie was brunette like me, but it's become too high maintenance, since her roots show so soon.  Mine do too, the only difference is that I don't care.

We got rained on a little and at one point, I did hear thunder but it was far away, didn't see any lightening and we made it all the way around without incident.  We were both soaked with sweat by the end of it.

It was totally worth it.

We kept the air conditioning on all day.  Later in the afternoon, the storms cleared and the sun came out.  Usually when that happens, the humidity breaks but not this time.  It stayed as sticky as a bayou and the temps soared up into the nineties.

Jay cooked us some fresh fish that a friend had given us.

Thanks, Dave!  It was DELICIOUS.

Katie came over and had dinner with us and showed me online the sort of bike she wants.  it's pretty cool.

Then we girls watched When in Rome, a silly little romantic comedy starring my new favorite actress, Kristen Bell and the cutest guy in Hollywood, Josh Duhamel .
(not to be confused with the hottest guy in Hollywood, or my favorite  young actor.)

All three of us had heard that the movie was awful so our expectations were non existent.  It was not awful; we all laughed many times.  I thought it was funnier than Confessions of a Shopaholic.  Dax Shepard was hilarious.

Even around 10:00, I opened the sliding door to let the cat out and it was like opening the door to a blast furnace.  Hot!!

So imagine my surprise this morning when I went out on the porch to see what it was like and discovered it was perfect out!  Blue Clear Sky, no humidity!

At the moment, the air is off and all my windows are opened.  A fresh rain washed breeze is blowing through the house.

It's like I'm in an advertizement for the perfect summer day.
