This Could Only Happen to Jay

Last weekend, Jay rode his bike down to Target Field to catch the Twins with a couple of his friends who were in town. It was a lovely night and they had a great time but the weather changed abruptly, as it does around here, and just as the game ended, the sky opened up and it poured.
Jay was not the only one who had ridden a bike down town and hung around inside the park waiting for the rain to stop. It was a narrow storm and a half hour later, the stragglers left the park.
At the bike rack, Jay noticed two other bikes still locked near his own. Sure enough, the two bikers had also waited out the rain. They were not together, they all just happened to have left their bikes in the same place.
So, while Jay unlocked his bike, a middle aged gal unlocked hers and a young man unlocked his. After a moment, the young man looked at Jay and asked "Are you Jay Pivec?"
"Yes, I am." Jay said.
At this, the gal unlocking her bike on the other side of the rack looked up and said "Jay!?"
It turned out she was our sister in law, Mary Lou's sister, Jane.
The young man was Thomas F., the son of one of my oldest friends, Martha.
it's Jay's world. We just live in it.
