For the past ten years or so, every time it rained or snowed, our news folks go straight to hysteria.  You'd think we had never had snow before here in Minnesota.  Or rain.

For the last three days we've been warned that snowy Armageddon was again on it's way to destroy our whole world and all that we love.

the global warming hoax has made fools of all our weather forecasters; everything is a life threatening emergency.

Have they never read the story of the boy who cried 'Wolf'?  Guess not.

But this morning we actually are getting an old fashioned blizzard and I for one, couldn't be happier!

They predicted 5 to 12 inches and it looks like we may get the full foot (or more) before this stops.

It's already so deep out my front door that the whiskey barrels we had impatiens in all summer is almost buried.  It's still coming down so hard that I can't see the park house across the street.  They've adjusted their predictions to "This could rival the Halloween blizzard of '91".  That blizzard was a blast.  Zack was trick or treating for the first time and loved the snow so much he never wanted to go in the house.  By morning, we had three feet of new snow and the Jay and the kids built snow forts on the back deck.  Yes, it was a blast.

For two days, the city shut down, the buses didn't run and I think the U may have canceled classes but I could be thinking of the blizzard of '81, when Jay and I were first married.  During that storm, we lived between Calhoun and Isles and since we had cross country skis, we were some of the only people in town who could get out and about.

Yes, my point is that we have giant blizzards every once in a while.  The only phenomenon this is part of is "NORMAL MIDWEST WINTER".  And the only part of it that is caused by human behavior?  Well, that would be the part where we build snow forts, I guess.

This summer, I met a lovely young woman at a dinner party who believes that our recent cycle of winters with below normal snow fall proves that the planet is warming.  I wondered how someone can get all the way through school with no familiarity with the concept of 'drought'.  Schools these days...

Could be worse...we could be in Cancun.
