True Grit

Our Christmas day movie choice this year was True Grit, which both Jay and I really wanted to see. The girls weren't gung ho on it. Katie and Josie don't care much for westerns and Megan ( an actual cowboy) usually finds them offensively inaccurate.
But everyone enjoyed it.
I loved it. I loved the original with John Wayne but this one was excellent. Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and the girl who played Mattie Ross were great.
When it was over, I asked Megan how it was; did they get the details right? She said her only complaint was that no one would really wear spurs like the ones Matt Damon sported (way too big) and that the outlaws were too articulate.
These are the sort of details that get people; it's like if Jay were to watch a basketball movie, he'd notice if the players were wearing the wrong shoes. Personally, I scoffed at the scene in Titanic, when Leo drew the sketch of Kate; no artist would hold their pencil like he did.
I think True Grit was excellent and it leaped into my top three movies of the year list, along with Inception and Toy Story 3.
