"Islam" means "slave to Allah".  It claims to be a religion of peace but what exactly, do Muslims mean by the word "peace"?

Does 'peace' mean 'get along with your fellow man', or 'tolerate points of view that are different than your own' or 'talk out your problems rather than fight' or even 'don't kill everyone who's not a Muslim'?

No, in Islam, 'peace' means 'total submission to Islam'.

So, according to  Islam and all the peaceful Muslims, we will have peace the moment the rest of us submit to Islam.

Get it?

When Liberals talk about 'divisiveness' or 'polarizing' discourse or when describing certain personalities such as Sarah Palin, as in the aftermath of the Rep. Giffords shooting spree, do they mean that their political opponents have been calling for armed conflict?

No, they mean their political opponents ( the voting public, in fact) not only refuse to believe their assertions, such as "ObamaCare will save  money" but actually dare to argue with them.

Now they are calling for an end to heated political discourse.  By this, they mean "No one gets to argue with us."

Liberals want  peace just like Muslims do; by forcing the rest of us to submit to their will.
