Saturday, Josie and I sat down to watch Splash.  She had never seen it and we're sort of on a Young Tom Hanks kick, since we saw Big.  Josie thinks he was really cute.

But she didn't like Splash and it's mostly because of him.

She thought Daryl Hannah was manly and unattractive but mostly she thought Tom Hanks' character was a jerk.

"He barges into the bathroom while she's taking a bath, even though she told him she was fine and then he gets mad at her because she doesn't want to marry him after knowing him all of two days!  What a jerk!"

She has a point.  His character exhibited a lot of characteristics that are red flags for an abusive personality.

But I still like the movie.

Then Carolyn came over and picked her up and I watched Network, which I'd just bought at Sam's for under seven bucks.

Network is a great movie and it totally holds up.

They could remake it with hot young stars (or George Clooney) today and they wouldn't have to change a word of the script.

I could see Clooney as William Holden, Dennis Leary as Peter Finch and Reece Witherspoon as Faye Dunaway.

I'd see that.
