The New Deprivation

I haven't posted much here lately because Jay is home all the time.

I know that doesn't sound logical but it's true.

It's May, when Jay doesn't have to teach and usually we take our trips in May but this year we didn't plan anything and so he's here.

He was invited to go fishing on lake Michigan but the weather has been so bad he didn't go.  I guess fishing in cold, wet, windy weather isn't as much fun as it sounds.

I don't know, I'm not a fisherman.

My point is that Jay has been using the laptop.

We have two more computers, but one is downstairs and I don't feel like going down there and the little laptop is great for surfing but no so much for writing; the cursor tends to leap all over the page so I'll be writing and suddenly I'm injecting the last sentence of this paragraph into the middle of a paragraph way up the page, rendering me even more incoherent than usual.

Poor us!  We only have one convenient laptop computer!!

Talk about deprived; Zack can't afford cable or the internet.  So he brings his laptop over here to check his facebook account and do his laundry.

Now that his entertainment is confined to regular tv and dvds, he has started reading.  This has improved his vocabulary and spelling skills.

What I'm getting at is I can't beat him at scrabble any more.

He beat me yesterday afternoon and after dinner we had a rematch.

Josie was home by then and she beat us both by 70 points.

Still, I'd rather get crushed by both of them than lose by 1 to their father.
