Like I said, my brother Joe has a whole bunch of kids.

Martha is two years behind her brother, Hootie.

Martha doesn't play football, she runs cross country.

Earlier this week, she had a race in which she finished with a time of 15:02, which is more than a half a minute faster than her previous personal best!  A half a minute!!

So this morning, I tagged along to the Eden Prairie metro invitational meet, where tons of top runners would compete.  Last year, the star runner on Martha's team (who now runs for Notre Dame) came in 14th at this meet.  It's a big deal.

Joe told Martha she should shoot for finishing in the top ten.  That would be spectacular.

She finished second, with a 15:03.

Her dad nearly popped, he was so excited.

Martha was pissed.  She's one of those competitors who thinks second place is just first loser.
