It's Too Loud In Here

Last night one of my handful of readers wanted to know why I didn't write more. I told him the truth; it's too loud in here.
The laptop I use is in the dining room which never used to be a problem. It's a lovely room, I like getting out of my office and the view out my front window is gorgeous. For awhile we all used the same computer although we have a nifty little travel laptop that I could easily take upstairs.
It's a great little job, which we bought almost two years ago so Jay could take it with him when he hit the road. My only problem with writing on it is that the curser has an annoying tendency to jump around on the page. It's a pain in the arse when you're trying to work and suddenly you realize you're typing away in the middle of a paragraph you finished ten minutes ago and now you need to clean the gibberish up.
And by the time you're done doing that, you've lost your thought.
So I don't write on the little one.
Jay now has another laptop to use so I could take this one up stairs but I seem to have a very compartmentalized mind. If I'm up in my office, I'm in painting mode. If I want to write, I come down here.
And I really can't write while Jay is on the phone in the house.
It's like trying to do homework in a comedy club.
But today is the kickoff for the Blue Knights basketball team.
It should be quiet in here this evening.
By which time I'll be too tired to think, much less write.
Oh well.
